full day of coding
i spent the entire day fooling around with C#. my laptop is really having trouble with visual studio 2005, a few web services and MS SQL server running at the same time (plus about 20 other memory resident applications). what can an on-a-budget programmer do, eh? (:the night finishes with a fine danish beer.

That's easy: install an OS that isn't a ressource hog... like Linux! I'm doing C# .NET development right now using MonoDevelop (http://www.monodevelop.com/Main_Page) and it works great! What's more, Apache + Mono now supports ASP.NET (for you VBers out there ;)
Make the switch: you'll be amazed at how fast your laptop /really/ is ;)

Ubuntu has been completely Freezing using the latest kernel. Ugh. Also, if you want to use WPA in your wireless laptop, good luck. You need a PhD to get that working.
But the benefits are good.

I wonder if my ISP would do the apache+momo for basic subscribers, or if any ISP would for low cost .NET support.
i wouldn't go linux for my only computer for now... but it'll be a possibility in the future.
