sleepless in ottawa
man, I haven't been sleeping much for the past few days.

on thursday, I hit a roadblock while finalizing a project at work. I was thinking about it all evening so I went back to the office at night and worked on it until 3:30am.

then I woke up at 7:30am friday morning to the sound of drilling from my neighbours (the maintenance people were fixing up the apartment for the new tenants). I went to work and left late, had supper at my parents (and paid dad a visit cause he got a fractured ankle from fishing), drove maggy to work, visited guillaume's new apartment, met the cat and got home around 3~3:30am. ali's car broke down so I gave him, bob and pierre-yves a ride back home. I hit the bed at around 5am.

three hours later (or early saturday morning), maggy came home from work and I woke up. I couldn't get back to sleep until 9 and finally got up around 11:30. mag and I went for lunch at the eggspectation and promenaded on bank street for about an hour. around 3 I put mag to bed and then I went back to the office again. I was home by 7:30, made supper and drove mag to work. I worked on the project from home until 3am and went to bed.

sunday morning was like saturday morning, I woke up as maggy came home from work and had trouble falling back to sleep. we got up and had lunch and was in time to watch the gay parade on elgin street at noon. the festivities were highlighted by rainbows, bubbles, super-soakers, fake boobs and lots of spike-studded leather. by 1:30pm I was at work again and didn't leave until 7:30pm. needless to say, I'm still up at 1am now writing in my blog. I'm hitting the sack... or the floor... now.

visits from niagara
Maggy's aunt and family came to visit on Friday. We went shopping, dining and visited the Royal Canadian Mint and the Parliament hill. Quite tiring for a weekend. More so, I imagine, for Maggy coz she had night shifts from Friday to Sunday. They should be giving her better schedules as per the agreement, but the schedule had already been set until next week. What the fuck.

golf day at manderley
I played golf on a golf course for the very first time today. Today was the House of Commons ISSI golf tournament. I didn't play very well, in fact I played quite badly, but I was happy to have at least a couple of nice drives/putts that helped out the team.

That night we had buffet dinner at the golf club. There were entrance prizes and prize draws. I got a towel, some ISSI golf balls, a reading light, a pen and a multi-knife for golf. Roy received McAfee security software in a box ("HA-ha", a la Nelson). I also got a hat and some golf balls from the prize draw.

I can't say I've fallen in love with golf, but I'll definitely try to play another game before the end of the summer.

shitty day
I took the opportunity of a nice sunny saturday afternoon to hand wash my car and rotate the tires. Today when I went to get the car, some birds shitted all over my baby.

sigh, I just can't have nice things.

anyway, I need some driving range time before the golf tournament on thursday. maybe tomorrow.

toronto plane crash
Air France's plane crash-landed on the Toronto Pearson airport runway this afternoon during a thunderstorm. Thank chances all 300+ people on board walked out of the now-incinerated aircraft alive.

From what I could gather of all the news sources, the plane was trying to land in zero visibility, found out it was too high when it was over the runway, descended suddenly, the tail struck the ground, bounced twice, blew out the tires, could not come to a stop, overshot the runway by about 200 metres, crashed into a ravine and started burning.

so glad everyone got out of the plane in time.

civic holiday weekend
On Saturday Maggy and I walked to the Rideau Centre and shopped for a bit. Then we stopped by Patty Boland's in the Market for a pint and some Captain Black Sweets.

On Sunday we went to see Mamma Mia in the afternoon (Maggy's treat!). I enjoyed it. I would've enjoyed it more if the girl in front of me didn't shift her big head left and right every two minutes during the entire show. It was my fault to pick those seats tho, should've gotten seats on the front row. Then we took a few picture of the apartment for Maggy to send back home. And a few pictures of us in the clothes we wore to the play. And a few pictures on Sparks street after dinner at Carmellos.

This afternoon, Maggy and I went for dim sum at lunch, then she was off to work. her shift would finish at 11:30pm and start again at 7am the next morning. Something is not right here, I would say something if that happened in next weeks schedule again.

At night, Ali and Bob came over to talk about our comic book project. We came up with more questions than answers. That's fine with me as long as we're progressing.
